Melissa Ablett-Jordaan

Vice President at CIC

I'm Vice President, Head of Centers for CIC across Europe and Asia. In this role, I'm responsible for overseeing the launch and ongoing success of our international innovation centers. We opened CIC Warsaw in June 2020, and CIC Tokyo opened October 2020.

Prior to my role as Head of New Centers, I was the General Manager of CIC Rotterdam for more than three years, where I was responsible for launching and leading Cambridge Innovation Center’s (CIC) first international location. Our Dutch center has grown to more than 250 innovative startups and larger businesses, in 10.000 m2 of space in the heart of the city.

CIC, founded in 1999 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, creates innovation communities that support impactful entrepreneurs to fix the world. We do this through innovation infrastructure - flexible office space, coworking, shared wet-labs, and more. We house close to 3.000 companies in over 50,000 square meters across 9 facilities. CIC clients and affiliates have raised $13.7B of venture capital.

Prior to CIC, I worked for the State of Massachusetts’ leading innovation policy agency, the Mass Tech Collaborative’s John Adams Innovation Institute. There, I developed public-private initiatives to stimulate the state’s tech sector and support entrepreneurship.

Following the Innovation Institute, I joined Streetwise Media, a digital media startup focused on local news and events for entrepreneurs and the innovation community. For two years, I helped lead the company’s flagship property in Boston as General Manager and helped the company grow to three cities. In 2012, the company was acquired by the American City Business Journals, a part of the Condé Nast and Advance Publications family.
